Better Policing for a Safer Mumbai – 4 June 2014
This public meeting was hosted by Mumbai First with CHRI, PCGT and PRW. It was held at 5.30 pm at BSE International Convention Hall, Mumbai. Panel: Mr. Julio Rebeiro, former Mumbai Police Commissioner, Mr Jacob Punnoose, former DGP-Kerala, Ms Maja Daruwala- Director-CHRI and Ms Devika Prasad-CHRI. The moderator was Shri Kumar Ketkar, veteran journalist. Over 300 citizens and representatives of NGOs and other networks attending this meeting. It began with a video presentation on the state of affairs of Police Reforms in Maharashtra followed by a brief presentation by the three key note speakers. This was followed by an interactive session with the participants who were not short of questions. There were at least 50 participants who signed up to say that they would be part of the campaign for Better Policing for a Safer Mumbai.
